Obituary of Mary Dorothy Musselman (nee Grier)

MUSSLEMAN, Mary Dorothy (nee Grier) January 3, 1933 - November 28, 2020 The sound of music lost a spectacular note on Saturday November 28, 2020 with the sudden passing of Mary Musselman (nee Grier). Mary was one of eight children born to William and Catherine Grier. She was pre deceased by sisters Carmel (Sr. Carmelita), Bernadette Lazarus, Geraldine Egan, Margaret Armaly, Gladys Ziraldo, Jean Reaume, and brothers Leonard and James Grier. She is survived by Leona McNamara, her only younger sibling and favourite traveling companion. In 1971 Mary married Arnold Musselman (1997), and brightened his family of Robert (2017), William, John, and Lee (Curtis). She is loved by seven grand children, eight great grand children, and many nieces and nephews. Mary’s ingrained love of music was nurtured at the Ursuline school of music in Windsor, and the Pines in Chatham where she pursued advanced studies in piano, voice, and organ. She achieved her A.R.C.T. at the University of Toronto, and later attended Manhattanville College in New York for specialized training in Gregorian Chant. Following a 25 year career as an elementary school teacher in Chatham and Windsor Catholic schools, Mary resumed her music education pursuing advanced studies in performance at Western University with John Paul Bracey. In her retirement years Mary performed many benefit recitals for charities, highlighted by performances at Senior Jubilee Concerts at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, and Windsor’s Cleary Auditorium. As per Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral service will be held.
