Obituary of Roy Gerald Gilbert

GILBERT, Roy Gerald October 7, 1923 – August 5, 2020 With extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of the kindest and gentlest of gentlemen in his 97th year. Loving and devoted husband of 66 years to Ruby (Kimpanov). Will forever be missed by children Neil Gilbert, Nancy LaJoie (Tony) and Linda Culmone (Frank). Sadly predeceased by son Paul Gilbert (Jo-Anne). Also predeceased by parents Sydney and Fanny Gilbert and Stanko and Tinka Kimpanov, siblings Irene and Joe Caba , Ralph Gilbert (Anne), Melaine and Nigel Hawman and Yvonne and Bob Noble . Loving Granddad of 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Will sadly be missed by nieces, nephews and friends across Canada and in the United States. Roy proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. After returning home he found the love of his life Ruby on New Year’s Eve 1952. Roy was a mechanical engineer and was employed for over 40 years at Giffels & Associates. He was an avid golfer, bowler and curler and in his senior years created impeccable stained glass pieces and woodcarvings. Roy had a passion for books and after reading thousands of novels astonishingly had almost 20/20 vision. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
