To Kristin, Mike, Dale and family, I would like to send my deepest condolences. Words can not express how blessed I feel to have had the chance to know Dave for so many years. He taught so many of us the true meaning of integrity on a weekly basis and had an undeniable talent for making you want to be a better person. More recently when we would catch up, I loved hearing him tell stories full of pride, about his kids and grandkids. Please know that I am thinking of all of you at this time. I will carry him (and the laugh) in my heart always. - Amy Reaume

When I got promoted from Cadet to Constable in December of 1974, the first week I walked the beat with Dave, Greg Horoky and Jack Stevenson. Dave and I walked the beat together for almost a year and worked on the same platoon for over 2 years. In March of 1991 I was in charge of The Sandwich Towne Community Patrol and Dave and Mike McKenzie were putting the final touches to their vision of creating a safe haven for West End teens. They worked tirelessly, along with a whole host of community members, to open STAG (Sandwich Teen Action Group) and over the years, under the stewardship of John Elliott, STAG has helped countless youth in the West End. Dave was all about community and he helped so many different groups and individuals in the community, not only in the West End, but throughout the city. I'm sure Dave and Lanny are playing 18 holes today, might even do 36, my guess is they're not walking it either. Dave is teasing the hell out of Lanny, trying to throw him off his game, but it's not working. Okay, it's working a bit. Not too long in the clubhouse boys, you've got St. Peter's Open tomorrow and you have to be sharp!!! Rest in peace my dear friend! Gerry Pocock

Police Officer means friend, a person who reaches out to others and a community and brings them together. Shows up at the local schools to teach VIP, cheers on the teams, supports the students and the staff with a smile and a cheer. A police officer sees what a community is missing and will try to make some changes to make a difference. That is what Dave ( & Mike) did for so many years. A difference was made!! When I seen the police cruiser at my house it was because Dave was stopping in for a visit. He was a mentor, a person I looked up too...he was a great friend. Thank you Dave for all you were to so many people. My sincere condolences to Kristen, Mike and the rest of the Doidge family for your loss. May you have peace knowing he was so much to so many people.....

Ever since my career at the Windsor Police started in July 1989, part of my position has involved working directly with residents, businesses and property owners in various Windsor neighbourhoods. This has included the city's west end where Dave was such a revered and respected fixture, always going the extra mile for this cherished area of our community. While I did not work directly with Dave for the most part, our paths did regularly cross and it typically involved safety initiatives in the west end. I will also remember....and LEARN from Dave Doidge's tremendous passion to help others. It is something I have tried to consistently maintain in my own career and life. My condolences to the family and please know how much Dave has touched and impacted many people.....like me. Very Sincerely, BARRY HORROBIN Director of Planning & Physical Resources WINDSOR POLICE SERVICE
