We had the blessed opportunity to have known Bruce throughout most of our lives. It started with a knock on the front door of our farmhouse. There was Bruce, introducing himself to our mother as the foreman of the company building the bridges on our road. He needed a place to room and board during that time. Her first response was a “No”. He then told her that our house and farm was the nicest in the area and that he would like her to consider the arrangement. That compliment and charm got him a she would talk to our family at dinner. We had a main floor bedroom and he seemed so polite and nice, so it was agreed. What evolved was a lifelong friendship and sharing of our lives. We learned how to play cribbage and properly decorate a Christmas tree (ornament spacing and no tossing of tinsel). His friend Ken then needed a place to stay near the job site so, why not? We were privileged to witness his marriage to the lovely Jan and be part of their lives over the next 61 years. The visits with our parents were always a delight for them. Bruce will forever be in our hearts and memories. Ross Anderson and Linda Slatford
