My sincere condolences to Bruce, David and Steve on the passing of your dad. Howie was a good friend of mine and a great curler; we spent a few seasons curling together with Russ Taylor, Dick Grossit, Howie and myself. I know we one at least one provincial intermediate curling championship together and, Howie at that time had also won the Ontario senior mens curling championship. I recall sweeping with Howie and how we cursed Russ or Dick for making us sweep so hard on their draws. Steve maybe you also remember our trip to Elliot lake in 1988 to the Rio Algoma bonspiel that Howie took us to, we didn't win but had a good time. I remember driving back home at night in a driving snow storm and we had 18 wheeler pass us on the right hand side of the road, when we all thought we were in the right hand lane --- scary .After that Howie said we were stopping at his son Bruce's house for the night and he put us all up; I remember the giant TV that Bruce had then. It was a lot of fun curling with Howie -- rest in peace my friend .

Howard will be missed on Harrow floor for his unfailingly cordial greeting " day or evening; for his concern for the other residents of the floor " it was Howard who noticed when someone was about to fall or needed help and he would call out to the staff, when it was urgent; for his, sometimes, humorously acerbic reports of his observations; and for his ability to maintain some semblance of independence and dignity at Harrow, including the pursuit of personal hobbies, despite his painful disease. I offer my sincere condolences to all members of the Montone family for your loss. Margaret Martin (Forbes Martin family)
