In January 2014 Shirley and I took a Caribbean Cruise together. What an amazing week, so many laughs and anyone who knew Shirley, will always remember what a happy person she was, always laughing and telling jokes to brighten any room. We worked at CIBC together back in the early 1980s and remained friends every since. Lots of lunches, talks on the phone and just hanging out. Shirley, I will miss you more than words can say. Rest in peace my friend. I will never forget the wonderful times we had together.

My condolences on the loss of your mother. Shirley and I worked together at the bank many years ago. She always had a smile and a joke for us. We kept in touch all these years. I will miss her so much. Mary Laliberte

My heart was broken hearing of the loss of my childhood friend Shirley. We go back 60 long years and my very best memories were memories made with Shirley Shafar, and the antics of her brothers and sister on Todd Lane. She will remain forever in my heart and I will speak her name and smile.

"Shirley K" you were one of a kind!!! We knew each other for several years before we worked together at 04282 in 1999. We just clicked, probably stemming from our love of pasta. LOL. It started at Torino's for lunch every Friday, then twice a week. Later, we'd go to lunch at the Caboto, both Spago's, Armando's and fundraisers at Caboto, Water's Edge and the Cleary. But it wasn't really about pasta. It was a friendship built on love, humor, mutual respect and trust. BFF I'm thinking of you and smiling. Rest in peace my friend til we meet again for more pasta...

I worked with Shirley for 15 years. She was an amazing woman who cared about everyone. Her sense of humour was one of a kind . When I became a grandma for the first time she bought me a beautiful picture frame that said grandkids. She said it was a tradition for her when someone had their first grandchild and that someone had done it for her. Now I have continued the same thing. Her legacy lives on in so many ways and she will be remembered with much love. Shirley ,you touched my heart..

Aunt Shirley always held court wherever she went. We would see her out and know that she would have a good story or memory to share. I loved when she told us stories about the shenanigans that her and her siblings (my Mom, especially) got up to as kids. She always had great stories to share about Greg and Jeff. She was the life of the party and I often felt like she was my very own Carole Burnett. When I moved back to Windsor, your door was always open for visits with Spencer and Emily. Thank you for all that you have done for me and our family. You will be missed. I hope you are making Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Ken, Uncle Al, and Aunt Cathy laugh up there in Heaven! Love Lisa (LaChapelle) and Shawn Kelly & Aidan
