Obituary of Julius Anthony Stanczak

Passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the WRH-Ouellette Campus at the age of 89. Julius is survived by his wife Marie; children Raymond (Linda), Richard (Kelley), Robert (Carol), Kathy (Simon Martin); grandchildren Ben, Colin, Holly, Kirby, Alison, Sarah (Matthew Prior), Garrett, Connor, Quintin; great grandchildren Noah, Isaac, Liam; sister Lodzia Bortkiewicz; step children Alice (Terry Urbach), John Lachowicz, Susan (Gary Marques) and step grandson Nathan. Julius was a native of Poland who was forcibly displaced from the family home at the start of WW2 to Siberia with his mother and four siblings. After an incredible and perilous journey through Russia, Iran, India, Africa, and England, the surviving refugees (Julius, his mother Pelagia, and brother Tadeusz) arrived in Canada and were reunited with his sister Lodzia in Windsor in 1951. He built a life for himself here, meeting and eventually marrying Bernice (Konias) and raising four children together, until Bernice’s death in 1998. Professionally, Julius learned to be a draftsman, and led the Design Group at Center Tool & Mold, and also became a part owner of that successful company. Julius was an active member of the Windsor community, coaching sports and leading Scouts. He was also involved in the local Polish community and was very proud to have served on the original Polonia Park board of directors. He was an avid golfer well into his eighties. His lively and corny sense of humour, kind, gregarious, and generous nature will be greatly missed by family, friends and acquaintances alike. As per Julius' wishes, cremation has taken place. A private service and internment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Dougall) 519-254-2585. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared with the family at www.simplechoicecremation.ca.
