Obituary of Donat Joseph McGraw

McGRAW, Donat Joseph July 19, 1936 - March 27, 2021 Donat (Don) McGraw passed away peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital - Metropolitan Campus on Saturday March 27, 2021, at the age of 84. He lost his 11 month long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Don leaves behind his loving wife Barbara, His children Mary Jo (Byron), Steve (Stephen), Elizabeth, John-Paul (Karen) and Susan and his stepchildren Diane (Rick) and Michael. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Brandon, Nicole (Eli), Angela (Tyler), Victoria, Amanda, Rachel (Tucker) and Zachary, and great grandson James. Dear brother of Walter (Auralea), Diane (Gerard), Lionel (Claudette), Gerard (Murielle), Levain (Paulette) and Lauza. Don will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers, and sisters in law. Predeceased by his parents, Hubade and Lorenza, his brother Frank, his sisters Doreen and Irene, his Grandson Mitchell, and his son-in-law Dennis. Don was a jack of all trades and a true master of all of them. He worked at Chrysler Canada as a Millwright in Skilled Trades for 30 years. Proud member of Unifor Local 444. Prior to that, he was a shift engineer at Hotel-Dieu hospital powerhouse. Don was born in New Brunswick and was a lumberjack in his early teens and learned to weld before coming to Windsor in 1955. He loved building things and he always worked hard, right to the end. But he also loved to play cards and games. He will be missed not only by his family, but also a multitude of friends in Windsor, as well as Florida, where he and Barbara have spent their winters since 2002. We would like to extend a thank you to Don's doctors, Dr. McKinnon, Dr. Freeman, Dr. Mathews and Dr. Chetty. Thanks to SE Healthcare, LHIN, as well as the nurses at WRH - Metropolitan Campus for your care and support. It goes without saying that Don has left a big Void in our lives, but he will take up an even bigger space in our hearts. As per Don's wishes, cremation has taken place.
