Dear Pat and family. It is with great sorrow that I learned of the passing of Rainer. We worked together for 6 good years where I grew to know and respect him. He was a good man, a loving family man, an extremely good trade commissioner and fun colleague to be around. I learned a lot working with Rainer. His advice was always from the heart. He cared, and loved what he was doing. Doris and I wish the family our love in these difficult days ahead. Doug Bingeman

Dear Pat, It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of my colleague and friend. He was a true pleasure when we did outcalls together and, while his directness and honesty might have put some SMEs on the spot, he truly helped them to hone their messages and business plans. He was a fantastic trade commissioner and, more importantly, an extraordinary person. Please accept my deepest condolences. With my sincerest good wishes to you and your entire family, Allan Edwards

Rainer was a nice man and a great colleague. I have been at the Embassy in DC for Ranier's entire time at the Detroit CG. I know he worked tirelessly and proudly for Canada in his 20 years there. I pray that his family and friends find comfort at this difficult time.

Rainer was a valued colleague and friend. I miss our many conversations and collaborations in the consulate and “on the road”. He possessed a formidable intellect and wicked sense of humor. Ruhe in Frieden, mein Freund!

Rainer and I worked together on behalf of the Locally Engaged Staff at the Canadian missions in the United States. His contribution to our work was appreciated and continues to bear fruit. Our friendship continued past his retirement as well as mine. I send sincere condolences to Pat and their daughters. Rainer spoke often of his loving family.

Dear Pat, I am a long-time colleague of Rainer's based at the consulate in Chicago. We worked together closely (and traveled together for trade events around the world) over the last 15 years. Rainer spoke often and fondly of you and his family. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He also had a deep knowledge of the manufacturing industry and global markets, and I relied on him for his insights and expertise. I shall miss him very much. My condolences to you and your whole family. - Sidney Salvadori

Dear Helge Streich, Helga and Walter Schwaymayer ,Kunau and McNaughton Family;
I am so sorry to hear, dear Helge that your beloved brother Rainer Kunau has passed on March10th. When I informed you just days ago by phone that my husband Gunter had passed on March 4th and we exchanged news, you informed me that your family also was worried about Rainer`s health . I am so sorry for your loss. Although I had met Rainer very shortly when I met your mom and family at their home in Windsor. That was a long time ago, during our mutual university days!
It is so difficult to cope with the departure of another loved one and I hope your religious strength will sustain you and your family. I am certain such a kind, good man will be forever remembered and cherished.
Doris Bauermann and family.
