Obituary of Matthew Alexander McLearie

Passed away peacefully on February 16, 2021 at the age of 82. Matthew shared 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Frances McLearie. Loving father of the late Matthew McLearie Jr. (Paulette), David McLearie and Stewart McLearie. He was a proud grandfather of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survived by his brother Ian McLearie (Janette) and family . Matthew was proudly raised in Scotland by his late parents James and Mary McLearie. In 1962, Matthew became a Metallurgist. In 1973, Matthew moved himself and his family to Canada to pursue his passion as a metallurgist. He became the President of their family run business, McLearie & Sons Heat Treating Ltd., which has been in operation since 1984. Right to the end he was still actively coming into work! Other than his family and career, Matthew had a passion for golf and most importantly, his putter. He loved to read Robert Burns and was so proud of himself for being able to recite the whole poem "Tam O’ Shanter". Matthew also found great pleasure in providing his sons and grandchildren a good scare by sneaking up on them and surprising them. As per Matthew's wishes, cremation has taken place.
