Obituary of Jerry Brugma

BRUGMA, Jerry March 25, 1934 - January 1, 2021 Jurjen Harmanus Brugma, 86, of Essex, ON, known to all as Jerry, passed away peacefully at home on New Year's Day after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones who worked tirelessly to ensure he was able to stay at home during his final journey. Jerry was born in The Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1954. He enjoyed driving and worked much of his life as a truck driver until retiring. He also loved country music, wrestling, crosswords and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He was always available to help anyone in need. Jerry is survived by Linda, his wife of 32 years, son Andy (Maureen) and daughter Tammy (Darryl). His son the late Norman (2017), son Stephen (Rosanne), daughter Shelley (Chris) and grandsons Sebastien and Maximilien, whom he loved dearly, are from his predeceased first wife Norma (1998). Jerry enjoyed puttering around the house and could do almost anything he put his mind to. He will be playing with the beloved dogs they’ve lost, including Cooper, Emma, and Yoda. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society.
