Len was a wonderful, resourceful neighbourhood character and friend. As a mechanic, he could fix anything and the kids on the street loved “Mr. Pare”. If there was topsoil, gravel, furniture, appliances or firewood to be moved he was there. It didn’t matter if somebody was moving into the neighbourhood or moving out, Len was there. He was an Ogre at Halloween, Santa Claus at Christmas, and was always willing to sit on the porch to just talk. Sorry to see him gone.

When I was a kid growing up on Kenwood, all I wanted was a pair of hockey boot roller skates. I was crestfallen when the guys at Wheels said my components weren't compatible and there was no way they could put them together. Mr Pare looked at the parts, quietly nodded and took them to his workshop. A half hour later, I had my heart's desire. Thanks for sharing your talents with us Mr Pare, Don Diubaldo.

Len was a neighbourhood institution on Kenwood Crescent, with a hearty laugh and a standing offer to help anyone needing a hand. May he rest in peace. Marion and Harold Horneck
