Obituary of John Wilfrid Gamble Clarke

John Wilfrid Gamble Clarke, born in Dublin, Ireland May 16, 1940. Predeceased by parents Wilfred Francis Clarke and Myrtle Selena Clarke and brother Denis Clarke. John passed away November 27, 2020 at Sun Parlor Nursing Home, Leamington, Ontario with his wife Martha (38 years) beside him. John was loved and admired by children Philip (David Toms) of Toronto, Alison Katkov (Steve) of Milton, stepsons Joseph A. Lacy (Jessica) and Thomas Lacy, both of Cumming, Georgia, grandchildren Brayden Lacy, Julia Ware (Taylor), Thomas Lacy (Nicole), Savannah Lacy, Eva Mae Lacy, Abigail Lacy and Jessica Allan and great grandchildren Luke and Joshua Ware and Zachary Lacy. John was a 34-year career employee of Confederation Life Insurance Company where he was a popular, highly regarded and respected member of the staff. John enjoyed reading and gardening and was an avid sailor. He was a member of The National Yacht Club (Toronto) for man years. He also had a passion for N Scale model trains, having a special room built in his Whitby home. John’s military life was important to him. He served as Commanding Officer of three individual Cadet Corps for over 17 years and was President of The Royal Regiment of Canada Association, all after retiring as Captain in The Royal Regiment of Canada. An incredibly special Thank You to our dear friend Erika Grabb for her continued support and care over the past years. A note of special thanks to Kendra, Jessica and Dr. Ross Moncur for their patience, understanding and guidance. The staff of 2 East Sun Parlor Nursing Home are also recognized for their caring during John’s stay with them. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held later in Toronto. John - we will all miss your humour, story telling, love for life, people, adventure and especially your family. Smooth sailing, my friend!
