Obituary of Steve Horoky

Passed away peacefully on August 28th after a lengthy illness. Steve is predeceased by his wife Mary (Mickey) Horoky (2018) and parents Mary Horoky (1974) and Paul Horoky (1997). Steve is survived by his daughter Cathy Galasso (Jimmy), son Paul Horoky (Erin) and was the dearest Papa to: Samantha, Jacob, Andrew, Alex, Ryan and Eden. Steve is also survived by his sister-in-law Cathy Sanford (Keith) and brothers-in-law Robert (Bob) Rodie and Jimmy Rodie (Denise) along with many cousins, nieces and nephews which were very dear to his heart. Steve had numerous friends, colleagues and acquaintances. Steve was an employee and Union Rep for General Motors and Lear for several years prior to his retirement. A special thank-you to Dr. Warwaruk and Dr. Bergeron for taking the time to look beyond the senior stigma and provide a diagnosis so he could move on peacefully with the rest of his time. Also, thank-you to Dr. Kennette and the staff at HDGH Palliative care unit for all the wonderful care and making “Steve” feel at home, all staff including ancillary staff, dietary and housekeeping treated him with dignity. One last thank-you to the nursing students from St. Clair College who showed compassion and professionalism every day, you were some of Steves favourite caregivers. As per Steve's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to restrictions from COVID-19, a private family service to celebrate Steve's life will take place at a later date.
