Truly, with tears in my eyes, I wish to extend my deepest condolences. Heather came to work with us at National Bank in Tecumseh many years ago, before she married, but yet I recognized her face as soon as I saw it. We would go for lunch together and she was just the sweetest girl ever, with those big puppy dog eyes. A beautiful girl, inside and out. I know she will be missed by all who had the privilege of meeting her.

What a vibrant, vital lady. Always someone who inspired. Fond memories of fun times, especially New Year’s Eve, with Heather and Jessica. I was privileged to spend time with Heather and use therapeutic touch, to offer some comfort. She accomplished so much, notably and most importantly, she raised two beautiful young women, also accomplished and vibrant in many fields. I know you both, John and Carol , were a big part of that endeavour. Mike and I offer you our heartfelt condolences, wishing you peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead, and loving memories to forever hold in your heart . Sherry and Mike Thomson

My sincere condolences to the Upham family. I remember with fondness the time I spent with Heather. We use to ride double all the time and we always ended up laughing our heads off. We use to play tennis against the wall at St. Angela School and often ended up at Peerless Ice Cream. She was always happy and fearless especially in the water. She was a wonderful person. I had the pleasure of working with Carol for many years at Hiram Walker. Throughout the years, Heather “Lil Ups” would come into the office. My first meeting with her was when she was still in school. She then came to work for us as a summer student and finally a full time employee. Throughout the years, she was always kind, spirited, hardworking, funny and a pleasure to be with. No matter when I would see Heather, she was always the same, easy to talk to and laugh with...that laugh..so contagious. My heart goes out to John and Carol, Alexa and Thalia and all of Heather’s extended family and friends. A bright light has gone out on this earth, but shines ever so brightly in the heavens. RIP Sweet Heather.

Heather was "good people" who came from "good people". I'm sorry I can't help - or do more than stand silently beside you. Ron McGuire

Heather had a kind strength. I never saw her feel sorry for herself, although she had enough reason. Right to the end, she was true to this. I saw that same kind strength in her aunt that brought her to the cancer clinic all of those years, and then I saw it again in her beautiful and strong daughters. Heather can be very proud of her legacy. I will miss her.

My condolences to Heather’s family. I was Heather’s occupational therapist a few years ago. Heather was a beautiful person. I was privileged to have worked with her. She was so proud of her 2 girls...they are precious to her. She was a fighter - despite her arm and hand weaknesses she worked hard on her goals. I can still picture her practicing her signature with different kinds of pens - she was patient and persistent. One of her goals was to bring a coffee to the basement - just simple pleasure in life. She was so grateful for any little suggestions or advices i could offer her - a chopper to cut veggies, a thermal cup to carry her coffee...she was a sunshine of joy! She just had a way to radiate positivity even in the face of challenges. Thank you, Heather, for touching my life. Her life has made an imprint on many hearts. Shirley L.

It is so difficult to find the right words that will adequately describe how sad we are as a result of Heather’s passing, and to support you during this most grievous time. Heather was such a loving and dedicated daughter, sister and mother. She loved to smile, laugh, and live life to the fullest … even during the most difficult of times. For you, Heather was a miracle worker who defeated the odds during her lengthy battle with cancer. We all knew that the end would come eventually. But no matter how much we prepare it is still devastating, especially for you. We want you to know that our hearts are heavy, but we will always remember her joyful nature, her courage and bravery in dealing with all the surgeries and other treatments over her last 10+ years. We also want you to know that we want to help you in “any” way we can. Heather was loved and adored by so many people, not just family. We will miss Heather so much. But we also will hold on to our favourite memories of her forever. She will be missed but never forgotten. Here is a comforting and consoling quote about memories: When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. May you treasure all your memories of Heather. May the good memories see you through the difficult times ahead. With our sincerest heartfelt condolences, support and love, Uncle John and Aunt Diana
