Obituary of Ved Arya

Passed away peacefully on July 22nd, 2020. Ved was born on May 26th, 1930 in Kenya, East Africa, to Tej Bhan and Lila Vati Dev. Ved had recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family. Ved is preceded in death by her late husband Vidya Rattan (2008) and her brother Subhash (1950’s). She is survived by her sister Adarsh (Prem, 2015), brothers Virendra (Pushpa) and Omprakash (Sandhya), children Sonny (Marlene) and Chhavi (Rohit), grandchildren Aneel (Amanda), Aanand, Rohan, and Jaiden, and great-grandaughter Gwen. Ved was a lifelong educator with an MA in English. She was a teacher, principal and lecturer at various teaching colleges and schools in and around New Delhi, India. She also taught in Windsor at Assumption University Montessori School. Ved was an active member of her community for many years, attended Windsor’s Hindu Mandir regularly, and was involved with the South Asian center, alongside her volunteer work in various elections. Ved’s family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at WRH-Met Campus, 6 North for their great care, as well as Dr. Ian Muzatti, Dr. Anil Dhar, Dr. Ahmed Chaker and Dr. Ihoma Ndubisi for their care over the years. The family would also like to thank the Attendant Service Workers of Assisted Living of Southwestern Ontario. Ved will be remembered by her friends and family as a strong-willed, independent person. Her last rites and cremation were performed at Windsor Crematorium in a private ceremony. Her ashes will be spread at a later date, at her preferred location.
