Diane was nothing but a drunk who would be abusive to the elderly in the building. She would bang on their doors, scream profanities at them if they were too afraid to answer. I felt as if I was the only one protecting them. And if you ever needed her, you'd have to go down the street to the Lion's Head bar to find her. After two years of this, I finally moved out.

Dearest Diane, family, and Leslie My heart is broken for all and and Leslie , you and Diane were like two peas in a pod, I am so sorry for your loss, yes Diane was one of a kind, they broke the mold when you were born Diane, Any person that was able to call you friend was a blessing and a privilege. I know I can’t make your pain go away, but I want you to know I’m here with a shoulder or an ear or anything else you need.” Fly with the Angels our dear friend May God bless you Diane So for now my friend May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Diane has been my very good friend for almost 10 years since the first day I moved into the same apartment building. Leaving the familiar, I was feeling anxious a bit like "a fish out of water" as the moving van pulled away. Surprisingly, a friend in the building arrived with a lady named Diane who immediately joined in to help me get my place in order. I soon learned how fortunate I was to have met her. She was unique and welcoming. What a gift that she actually lived on my floor! I quickly ascertained that my new friend was selfless, caring and helpful and had a wicked sense of humour. Who could ask for more? Oh, there was nothing phony about Diane. She spoke her mind and she did her best to keep the Harley guys on their noisy machines and the ones in cars blaring their rap music at bay! She tried to educate them to show some respect by yelling instructions to them from MY balcony. Emphasis was added by the use of some special adjectives just to get the point across but the noise was too extreme so she wasn't heeded. It was so funny! It was so Diane! She was devoted to her son Jeffrey who is kind and caring and helpful just like his mom...well raised by a mother who wore her heart on her sleeve where her son was concerned. When he travelled for business, she worried until he was safely home again the way mother's do plus a bit more. It was inspiring to see a mom and son who always had each other's back. Diane said what she thought. She worked hard throughout her life before I met her and continued to do so throughout the years I knew her. She always made time to help other people. That was important to her. She tried, she helped, she cared. One of the "good people". She also cherished her friends and especially her best friend Leslie. Diane was always excited when the two were going out for fun. If they happened to go to bingo and won, a trip to Walmart to stock up was inevitable! "Isn't that cute!" ...a phrase frequently used by Diane. Lots of good times over the years... But this week for me the sun doesn't seem to shine quite as brightly. The stars seem a bit dimmer too. The music sounds somewhat subdued and people's laughter rings a bit hollow at times. The chain has a missing link in this apartment building...the one I moved into almost 10 years ago. The selfless helper who helped me on my first day has gone to the better place we strive for in life and she will gain her reward and find peace. It has been such an honour and a privilege to call Diane my dear friend. My most sincere condolences to Jeffrey. May your mother's memory be a blessing.

I was recalling Diane just the other day! I lived at Villa D’Este for a couple of years (late 90’s) and shared many rum and cokes with Diane. She cared about her tenants for sure! I can hear her laugh! Deepest sympathy to her family.

My Dearest Diziee, My heart is heavy, but I want to celebrate wonderful you. In 1997 I met you and Tom at the bar I worked at. We bonded from the get go. Years passed there, you became my friend, my Mom on earth my little helper. You helped serve the guys, you had a wee drink, and we played Yatzee alot! lol. It was great. Our favorite pass time was Bingo" Boy did we have fun. I will cherish those memories forever. As I say " God broke the mould when he made you" We laughed alot, called each other almost daily. You are genuine, everyone loved you, we will all miss you. Jeff was your pride and joy of your life. To my little wipper snapper, my life will go on but I'll miss you beyond. Just remember, if you hear the phone in heaven ringing, please pick up. It's me.. Love you forever. Leslie.
