Obituary of David "Dave" Drouillard
Our angel has left this world and returned home. Dave had an easy, peaceful death in his home on June 1, 2020, hand in hand with his loving wife Marty (Martha) after celebrating 17 wonderful years of marriage. Predeceased by his late wife Janet Rose (1999). Loving father of P.J. Drouillard, Aimée Radmore (Dan), Tim DeMonte (Weiwei), Colette Van Meekeren (Michael), and Sheri Leblanc (Joe). Cherished Papa of Mollie (Janis), Lulu (Brandon), Kara (Andrew), Marita (Bryan), Ben, Bethanie (Wesley), Schuyler, Hailey, Emelina, August, Calvin, Caelan, Sarina and Rosalyn and GG Papa of Zachary and many to come! Dear brother of Margaret Laframboise (John), Douglas Drouillard (Deirdre), Patrick Drouillard (Penny) and the late Ronald (1969). Brother-in-law of Glen Horst (Patricia) and Roger Horst (Carolyn). Treasured cousin, uncle and family member to so many more. Son of the late Frederick (1973) and the late Anastasia (2014). Many friends and family were embraced in his affections and prayers daily. Dave was an avid fisherman spending many wonderful hours on his boat around home catching pickerel when he wasn’t reading or walking. The walking group in Amherstburg is where he and Marty met and fell in love 20 years ago. As a long-time member of Deep Bay Hunt Club, many lasting and loving memories were created at the family weeks and the fall fish weeks. He took great pride in his skills as a gardener and his garden creations were lovely; not only was he a helpful neighbour but his gardens often extended to theirs with artificial blooms in April. Dave was also a dedicated caretaker and watcher of all birds. For many years Dave owned Quick Silver Maintenance, a property management business and he retired from General Motors Trim Plant after 34 years where he specialized in sewing machine repairs and practical jokes. Dave became a Brentwood Recovery Home alumni on February 16, 2002 and later served as a board member for a number of years. He enjoyed a fun companionship with the Laurel & Hardy group and more recently found strong fellowship, friendship and support in becoming a member of the Kingsville AA group. A truly kind and humble man, Dave’s love and respect for his family, friends, and fellow man was demonstrated in all aspects of his life. Memorial donations may be made in Dave’s honour to the als society, the hospice of Windsor and Essex-County, or to a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial to follow Thanksgiving of 2020 (Details to be announced). Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Kingsville) 519-254-2585.
