Obituary of Larry James Whittal

Larry passed peacefully at home after a courageous struggle with ALS. Best friend and cherished husband of Maura with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Proud and devoted father of Graham(Jenn) and Ian (Mercy). Loving grandpa to Aiden and Adelia who were the delight of his life and brought him great joy. He is predeceased by his sister Gloria and brothers Don and Rob . He is survived by his sister Jean and sister-in-law Mary Lynn Whittal. Larry was a favourite among his many sisters and brother in laws in the Ganley family which he has been a part of for five decades as well as many nieces and nephews whom he kept entertained over the years with his endless stream of dirty jokes and funny stories. "Uncle Larry" was deeply loved and his memory will live on in the minds and hearts of those to whom he brought the gift of laughter. Larry's ability to make people smile was extended to a circle of special friends & co-workers whom he enjoyed very much. Lifelong family friend, Lynn Leighton, has always held a special place in Larry's heart. Her love and constant support for both Larry and Maura over the past year is the stuff legends are made of. The family would like to recognize and thank Dr. Giancarlo Pizzuti, the ALS Society, and PSW's Indra, Corey and Daniel for their unwavering support throughout this difficult time. Cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Life for Larry will be held at a later date. Donations , if desired, may be made in Larry's name to the ALS Society of Windsor and Essex County.
