Obituary of Robert Michael Duxter

Bob passed away at home surrounded by his devoted family, Susan (his wife of fifty years), Michael (eldest son), Rob (youngest son), Eileen (daughter-in-law), Linda Rinaldi (sister), Cocoa (his beloved dog) and his pride and joy, two year old grandson Zachary. He passed away peacefully mid afternoon on Friday, April 3, 2020. He will be greatly missed by his only surviving Aunt (Betty Catlin), plus countless friends, neighbours and relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Mike Duxter and Geraldine Gendreau, an elder sister (Patsy) and a younger brother (Ronny). He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Bob turned 76 in July last summer, an event celebrated by family and friends in his back yard. Bob had enjoyed over twenty years of retirement. Bob loved Dominican music, traveling, his assorted pets, pizza, golfing, and his family. He was taken too soon by cancer, a disease he fought valiantly against since 2018. The family thanks his doctors, Dr. Kanjeekal, Dr. Smith and the excellent services at the LHIN, VON, and WRH -Metropolitan Campus. Bob graduated from the University of Windsor and Windsor Teacher’s College. He worked for the Windsor Board of Education teaching French and was at one time president of the Men’s Teachers Federation. He spent many of his retirement years on the lush, green, sunny golf courses in Windsor, Michigan, the Caribbean Islands and in Florida where he and Susan spent the winters for the last fifteen years. Cremation has taken place. Bob’s life will be celebrated at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Bob’s memory payable to the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation ( Metropolitan Hospital - 1995 Lens Avenue, Windsor, ON N8W 1L9 ) where the funds are used to purchase much needed cancer equipment. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Dougall) 519-254-2585.
