Obituary of Giovanna Day (nee Catania)

Passed away peacefully at Erie Shores Hospice on February 24, 2020 at the age of 77. Predeceased by beloved husband, Keith Day. Dear mother of Robert Theriault (Kimberly). Loving sister of Alex Catania, Maria Catania and Bart Catania. Giovanna was a grade school teacher in her work life but in retirement she grew to become an avid gardener. And her passion for gardening increased with each new garden she brought into existence. Although Giovanna demonstrated her great love of family and friends quietly, her love of gardening she exhibited with intensity and passion. She was never too tired to weed, never too busy to learn about plants nor was her garden ever too crowded not to include a new variety or species of flower. She was gentle and kind to family and plants but a fearsome adversary to any insect that dared feast on her flowers. In June of next year, when her garden is in full bloom, we will scatter her ashes amongst her flowers.
