Obituary of John Sidney Baker

69 years, passed away as a result of complications from heart surgery. Survived by his loving wife of 46 years Barbara. Also dearly missed by his children, Pamela (Roger Russelo), Michael and Gregory (Ashley Rodd) and his grandchildren, Dahlia, Lawson, Carter, Audrey, Eli and soon to arrive Elliott. Predeceased by his parents Sidney and Dorothy and sister Wendy. Also to mourn him is his loving brother Richard, brothers and sisters-in-law; Derek and Terri Wetton, David and Janet Wetton and Ridley, Mary-Anne Wetton and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John taught at Kingsville District High School for 32 years and coached the boys football and senior girls soccer teams. In the community, he coached both minor hockey and baseball. He was a member of the Kingsville Minor Hockey Board, Kingsville Minor Baseball Board and the Comets Hockey Board. In John’s retirement, the time that he wasn't spending with his family, he was occupied at Orchard View Golf Course where he organised a number of senior leagues and helped run the junior golf program. Thank you to the staff at Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington and the University Hospital in London for their care and dedication during his treatment. Cremation has taken place with no visitation. A celebration of John’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, London Health Sciences Centre - University Hospital London or Erie Shores Healthcare, Leamington Hospital. To anyone who knew John, one of his biggest passions was collecting pop tabs for the Colasantis wheelchair fund.
