Mr.Byrne was my favourite high school teacher. I am currently in my second year of University but I remember going into grade nine and being very nervous to take Geography, knowing I was horrible at the subject. Luckily I was put into Mr.Byrne’s class. He was the most intelligent and kind-hearted teachers I’ve ever had. He always taught with passion and made sure that every student understood the lecture. He always picked the best movies that related to our lectures and gave us interesting and fun projects. Every Friday he would give us a nice break from class to play scrabble and even gave us chances to get bonus marks. I know myself and many students of his looked forward to ‘Scrabble Fridays’ even though none of us could beat him no matter how hard we tried. He told the funniest jokes and played the best pranks on us, leaving us with a smile on our faces at the end of class. Mr.Byrne was the first and only teacher to call me by my full first name ‘Abigail’ and it gave me a deeper respect for my name. I was so happy to hear that I would be in his History class the following year. He was a remarkable teacher and will be greatly missed. I send my deepest condolences and prayers to his family.

Mr. Byrne was my history teacher in grade 10. I am now a first year student in university, yet I still have such a fond memory of the class. Mr. Byrne was not only an extremely knowledgeable man, but he was one of the most entertaining, light hearted and enjoyable teachers I’ve ever had. Every Friday we played scrabble as a class, and he would win every single time. He always played the best movies, taught the most interesting lessons and told the best jokes. Amazing teachers impact the lives of so many. They have the ability to turn a long and gloomy Monday morning into something fun and exciting. Mr Byrne was the teacher who could change our Monday, or any day. He will be missed dearly by myself and the St Joseph’s community. Sending my prayers and love to his family during this hard time.

Mr Byrne was my teacher in grade 9 and 10, and being a university student now I still have great memories from his classes. He was one of my favourite teachers and was so funny and always made class a great time. He took us on the best field trips and made sure everyone had fun while learning. He was such a genuine, kind person and will be missed by everyone deeply.

Our deepest condolences to Dana, Sommer, Ireland and Pierce. I had the opportunity to get to know Dennis through tecumseh saints basketball when our girls all played in grade3/4. I will remember how much he loved his girls and enjoyed being in the gym with them. He always had a funny story to lighten any situation and keep things in perspective. RIP Dennis. I was his student the last semester he taught at St. Joes (my grade nine year). It was obvious that he genuinely loved to teach and inspire students. That year was a period of transition and pretty tough for me, but he definitely helped me through it and instilled values in me that I still live by today in University. He was truly one of a kind. My sincere condolences to the family. Heaven gained another angel.
