Jane ( Brokenshire) Wright posted a condolence

Sincere condolences to Donald’s family in his recent passing. I knew Don through Victoria Ave Church in Chatham growing up, and his parents also- Gladys especially being a cheerful long time worker in the church. (My husband went to Kennesserie Camp as a boy, and Don was a fellow camper there. He remembers that Mrs Clark sent along a copy of Pilgrim’s Progress to camp for Don that remained unread - at that time, anyway.) He was a gifted singer, optimistic about life. All the best to his family in the days ahead. Sincerely, Jane (nee Brokenshire) and Brian Wright, Chatham

Susan and Family: It is with great sadness that I write this note to you and your family. Don was a wonderful friend to me while growing up in Chatham as a teenager. We had many great times together and with friends as well. Don loved to sing as did I. We spent several years together singing in the Victoria Ave. Church choir and competed in festivals as well. There were only a handful of boys in the choir, but we were proud that we could project our voices and keep up with the overwhelming number of girls. Don certainly played a big role in that. I remember the practices but most of all I remember the laughs we had together. I came across this picture of John Schram, myself and Don (circa 1965). We had been out playing tennis. Well, trying to play tennis. We were lucky to hit the ball back and forth a couple of times before just swinging the tennis racket in the air and hitting nothing. I am so grateful, after so many years, that my wife Cynthia and I were able to get together with you and Don (at the Retro Suites Hotel in Chatham) in November of 2015. We had coffee and a bite to eat while we talked about our families and careers as well as sharing some of the good times from the past. Our thoughts are with you and your family. Cynthia and Larry Jones Port Hope, ON
