Merilyn Joyce Anne Swatman (nee Martin)
April 7, 1944 - December 19, 2023

It is with saddened hearts the family of Merilyn Swatman announces her passing at the age of 79.
Cherished wife and best friend of 61 years to Carl Swatman.
Beloved mother of the late Carl Joseph “Joe” (1993), Jason (Anne), and Clayton (Christina).
Proud and devoted grandma to Amanda, Sarah, Nicole, Kaitlynne, Ryley, Colton, and Cassidy and great-grandmother to Jaxon.
Remembered by her in-laws Pam (Joe) Beneteau and Sheila (the late Ron) Johnston. Predeceased by her parents Joseph Martin and Geraldine Fontaine (nee Morand) and stepfather Joe Fontaine.
Best friends of Debbie and Charlie Temple and cherished neighbours of Jan and Dar Robillard.
She will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Merilyn worked in the carpeting and flooring industry for 20 years before working at Lasalle Music for 15 years alongside her son, Jay, and her husband, Carl. Music was a constant source of joy for Merilyn, and she had a deep appreciation for music of all kinds. She loved shopping and found joy in finding new treasures.
Merilyn found solace in crocheting, embroidery, and puzzles. She loved spending time with her dogs and granddogs.
The Christmas season held a special place in her heart. She went above and beyond to create a magical Christmas Village in her home every year.
One of Merilyn’s most remarkable qualities was her selflessness. She always put others before herself, never expecting anything in return.
Despite facing health issues, Merilyn remained resilient and fought with unwavering determination. She refused to let her challenges define her and continued to live life to the fullest. Her fierce spirit and strength of character were an inspiration to all who knew her.  Her legacy of love, creativity, and resilience will continue to inspire those who were touched by her presence.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will take place on December 30th from 12:00-3:00pm at Knights of Columbus, 8965 Malden Rd., Lasalle ON. A brief sharing of memories will take place at 1:00pm followed by a light lunch.
