Jen, Ethan, Ryan, Lynda, Charles, Laurel and extended family - I am so saddened to hear of Mike's passing. There are no adequate words. I can only imagine what you are experiencing.
I'm glad to have known Mike. It was so evident that he cared deeply about people. That is what we should all hope to be remembered for.
You will remain in my thoughts ❤️

The sold out attendance at today’s celebration of Michael’s life reflects the huge breadth of the love felt for him.
I’m quite sure he has already been made the CEO of the Guardian Angel Division in Heaven because he was always a true Guardian Angel to so many people here.
Back in the Patrice Dr. days, he was an amazing support to my mother and also by chance to myself on a few occasions. He was a hero to so many people even before starting his career of caring. What a privilege to have known such a special person.

Dear Linda, Charles, Laurel and Jen,
My deepest sympathies to all of you. I am very sorry I could not be there today to be part of the reflections, and sharing of thoughts and memories of Michael, and to offer you some comfort to your broken hearts. I can’t imagine the grief you must feel right now.
Jen – we have not met, but our families grew up together, and I always knew (and remember) “Mike” as Michael. That changed along the way as he grew up, and reading through the tributes and reflections of who he was to everyone, reminded me of how much he was always such a loving, sensitive and thoughtful person – to everyone he touched.
It’s a wonderful picture of Michael, with his gentle smile, and the sparkle in his eyes (reminds me the last time I saw him decades ago when he was growing up).
Just want to share with you a few of my fond memories of Michael – for everyone.
I spent a couple of summers in my teenage years working at the Mailloux house on Patrice where Michael and his sibings grew up – one year painting their house, and the next just helping out around the house. I was sort of an older brother to all of them, but I remember a couple of very special things about Michael – and it connects with where he landed with his vocation (and who he was as a special person to everyone).
Michael had a lot of energy when he was young, and he loved to run around – but it always struck me how much he wanted to be around his siblings and around other people. He had a real affinity for people at that age, and you could tell how much he liked just being close to people – so becoming a PSW made a lot of sense to me when I heard. The other thing to mention was that he really loved to help out – and was “my helper” those summers. I could tell how he really enjoyed being by my side when I was painting and fixing things around their house. He was there to help carry things, and often wanted to try and paint, or asked to finish something I started that I was fixing, which I often let him do. You could see how he really liked to do things with his hands. I also noticed then how patient, focused and quiet he would be during those times with me. It just always struck me how he loved and wanted to do things to help out, and to be with someone – and it was so nice to have him there with me.
A funny part of the story in working those summers is that I never ate more hot dogs in my life – everyday we would all gather in the kitchen at lunchtime and Linda would cook hot dogs in the microwave and we all would sit around and have lunch together.
I never got to thank Michael for taking care my grandmother Jane at the Huron Lodge – but I knew she was in such good hands.
For sure, Heaven is brighter with one more star and Angel – and I know that the one with the sparkle is Michael.
With love, warmth and comfort to Linda, Charles, Laurel, Jen, Ethan and Ryan,
Sean (one of the four Rourke brothers)

Jenny, I remember your wedding to Mike. It was clear that he was a wonderful man then and continued to be nothing short of that throughout your marriage. You and Mike have created a loving and full life together. I am so sorry that your time, and your kids' time, with him has been cut short. This is a time for family to come together. You have many people who love you so please reach out! I love you and you and your family has been in my prayers since I heard about this devastating news!

My original memory of Mike was when we met for the first time shortly after his Father passed about 15 years ago. I had lost my own Dad at a young age and I also loved rock music, so we quickly figured out we had a lot in common. It breaks my heart to see Mike gone so young having just seen him a few weeks back. Just a year and a month short of his 50th birthday and leaving behind a wife he loved dearly, two sons he adored and was proud of and countless friends, family, neighbours, coworkers and the people he cared for at Huron Lodge.
It is painful to see such a bright light extinguished so young and to see the grief of those left behind.
If life has taught me anything it's taught me these two things. 1. Everything is going to be okay. Somehow someway it is going to be okay. 2. It's not the years that count, it's the mileage. I hope all of his family and friends, but especially Jen, Ethan and Ryan are able to look back on a treasure trove of good times, laughter and happy moments and realize that despite how it may seem today, Mike had an extremely full life and he will not soon be forgotten by anyone who happened to know him. I'm grateful to have known him. He was a good man.

Dear Mailloux family, as a classmate of Ryan I was absolutely torn to hear this news of his fathers passing. Ryan hadn't been coming to school and everyone thought he was just sick. When we got the news I was so hurt but I can't even imagine how hurt your family must've been. Ryan was a quiet and funny kid and i'm glad i got to know him. His brother was talkative and kind. Even tho I hadn't known his dad personally I knew he was a great guy trying to make his family the happiest he could and I bet he did. I can't even imagine how much pain your family must be in right now. No one deserves to go through the pain of losing someone so loving and kind. Ryan or any family, if you're reading this just know we miss you and are awaiting your arrival back. I know it must be so hard and you can take all the time you need to heal. We are praying for you and we wish you the best. I hope your doing okay.

My dear brother (like a brother) Mike was a kind soul. He was always helping others which is why he was excellent at his job at Huron Lodge. 30 years of friendship is just simply not long enough. I am so glad 2 months ago we shared together another great concert event, heading to Detroit to see one of our favourite bands perform a 30 year reunion tour of their album. A memory I will hold dear forever. I will cherish every moment we shared together. The great concert events, the bar days and of course all our Superbowl, Grey cup and autumn events we all gathered for. The original 6 will never be the same now without you, but we will continue to think of you and cherish all the amazing times. We are so sorry to Jen, Ethan and Ryan-know that we are praying for you. We are so sorry also to Mike's siblings Charles with wife Cindy, Laurel and husband Bill and of course their children, Mike's nieces and nephews. Our deepest condolences go out to Lynda as well, Mike's Mum. May God Bless you all. Thank you Mike for your friendship of 30 years. With Love Justin and Karen

My deepest condolences to Jenn, Ethan, Ryan and Mikes entire family and friends.
I worked with Mike a lot on nights my first years at Huron Lodge. Later through scheduling and he would pop into my office Friday mornings or call me to check his payroll would be correct.
Mike never complained or had anything bad to say about anyone or anything. He was a genuine good person.
I’ll never forget him picking up the slack one night on night shift when I wasn’t feeling well. He would be whoever he had to be for residents, whether they were calling out for a doctor or the police. Sometimes he would sit in a residents room with them at night and hold their hand if they needed it. You could tell that being a PSW was his calling in life. Residents loved him, and staff loved him.
He LOVED his boys, and loved being a dad. From their milestones when they were babies to their teen years. We talked about how his boys were the best thing that ever happened to him, and I should not shut out having children, though at the time I did. I’d learn in 2020 when I had my daughter how right he was about this. Mike will be truly missed by his Huron Lodge family and his absence will surly be felt for years to come. May he rest in eternal peace ❤️

TO Jen and the boys and all the family--Your Mike was a special person and he was as mentioned by others in these memorials, a Gentle Giant and he had such a lovely soft manner about him. He was a very good caregiver to so many of the residents at Huron Lodge and I worked at times with him as the R.N. on the unit and he was always respectful and kind and he made a point of coming after his shift(11-7) to wish me a happy retirement (I was on 4th floor 7-3 shift) I know he will be missed by many in our community and I wish all of you comfort and peace in the coming days.
