MacLEAN, Nancy Barbara (nee Weir)

February 22, 1935 – October 16, 2023

It’s with heavy hearts the family of Nancy Barbara MacLean announces her passing on October 16, 2023 at the age of 88.  

Cherished wife of the late James MacLean.

Beloved mother to Dave MacLean and Katharine MacLean.

Proud Grandma to Brooke MacLean & Adam MacLean, and Payton.

Predeceased by her brother Neil Weir and her parents William and Agnes Weir.

Nancy began her career at the British Motor Corporation (BMC) at the age of 16. Her natural talents in math and hard-working nature, earned her a spot as the head of payroll in only 3 years.

After taking a break from work to raise her two children, she returned to work at Hudson’s Bay where she was a senior payroll for executives for 20 years.

Nancy and James were married for 51 years. In her early 20s, they travelled throughout Ontario and the USA with James’s pipe band. In their later years, they loved to travel together where ever there was sun and sand. They loved music of all kinds and went dancing every week together.  

Nancy was an avid reader of romance novels and loved doing sudoku and crossword puzzles. She taught herself how to sew and made herself beautiful dresses and evening gowns. Nancy was prim and proper in everything she did, never cursing in her 88 years of life.  

Nancy spent the last couple of years at Berkshire Care Centre with dementia. Her kindness and beautiful spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her.

As per Nancy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No service to take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor would be greatly appreciated.
