Obituary of Jan Polak

POLAK, Jan
January 9, 1946 - September 18, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jan Polak at the age of 77.  Beloved husband of Viera, loving father to Donald (Michaela) and Jason (Megann), and cherished grandfather to Katijana, Anthony and Marika. Brother to Joe and Peter (Deceased 2004).  Jan was born in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. After the Russian invasion in 1968 he and Viera escaped and immigrated to Canada. Jan retired from the GM Transmission plant where he worked as a journeyman electrician and robotics technician. Jan was an avid photographer and was a member of the Windsor Camera Club and Computer Club. He lived for his family and will be remembered by his smile and loving heart.  Special thank you to Dr. Woodall, Nurse Angie, Chaplin Rosemary, and staff at WRH ER Met Campus. Your compassion and care are very much appreciated and will never be forgotten.  At Jan’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE (Dougall) 519-254-2585.  Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at 1:00pm on Thursday, September 28th at Heavenly Rest Catholic cemetery.
