Obituary of David Michael Houlahan

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Michael Houlahan on Sept. 16, 2023 at the age of 62. Dave is survived by his loving mother, Sharon Houlahan, whose unconditional love and care never waivered throughout her son's life. Dave was recently predeceased by his father, Earl Houlahan, with whom he shared a love of nature and the Great Lakes. Dave also leaves behind his loving brother, James (Jennifer), as well as his two nieces, Ava Marie and Teresa Victoria Anne, whom he adored.For the greater part of three decades, Dave worked in the transportation industry, driving long haul, for Grant and Morrice Transport companies. Dave had a passion for boating and travel. Many weekends were spent at Put-In-Bay, Crystal Bay, or Peche Island.  Aside from the local waterways, Dave's wanderlust led him on various worldly excursions. Dave often said that his greatest time in life was when he spent many months traveling with his brother, Jim, throughout Asia, motorcycling across Nepal and Thailand, cruising up the Mekong River in Laos, as well as a number of backpacking trips throughout India. Dave's favourite winter destination in retirement was Nicaragua where he would bask in the sunshine along the water's edge. Many would agree that Dave's most endearing character trait was his keen wit. He had a wonderful sense of humour that would keep both family and friends amused. Dave will be sorely missed, but family and friends may take solace in knowing, "he enters the port with full sail" unencumbered by any earthly suffering.
