Obituary of John George Schaffhauser

John George Schaffhauser 

November 15, 1955 - June 18, 2023 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our car-obsessed, classic rock devotee, heavily bearded father, John George Schaffhauser. John passed away on June 18th, after a long battle with prostate and lung cancer, at the age of 67.  John was the only son of the late John Schaffhauser and the late Enna Denning.

He will be forever missed by his children Lesley (Brandon), Lindsey (Peter) and James (Barbara) and five amazing grandchildren, as well as his extended family and many friends.

John spent his life as the go-to mechanic for a number of family members and friends and he was a creative problem solver when it came to all things that needed fixing, replacing or building.  One of his favourite pastimes was spending a day cruising around in his favourite car and displaying it at local car shows; especially with his buddies from Windsor Area Street Rods.

We can’t thank The Village at St. Clair enough, for the love, care and friendship they had given to our dad over the past months. The support we have received from the staff in the Kingsville neighbourhood as well as Bishop Paul, was beyond anything we could have expected, and we know that he was in the best hands during his time with you. Thank you. 

For those of you who know him well, you’ll understand why traditional funeral arrangements wouldn’t be a true reflection of who John was and because of this, we have decided to hold a private Celebration of Life for John, in the fall.
