Obituary of Earl Patrick Houlahan
On June 21, 2023 our 'Captain' completed his final earthly voyage. Dad long had an affinity for the Great Lakes, especially Lake St.Clair, his 'Golden Pond'. His last three boats were named after three of the most beloved women in his life, the 'Ava Marie', 'Lady Tess', his two granddaughters who he cherished, as well as 'Jennie', named after his adored daughter-in-law. Earl leaves behind his two loving sons David and James (Jennifer), as well as his former wife Sharon. He is also survived by his brother Ray (Naile). Dad was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Bernadette. Earl's mother was his beacon of light, a person of great compassion, the person he most wanted to emulate. Also having predeceased him were his elder sister Joan and younger brother Terrence. Earl had an entrepreneurial spirit. He undertook ventures in the steel industry, retail sales, realestate, before settling in as the owner operator of Erie Appliances and Erie Financial. Through his success, Dad recognized a need to give back to others. Many would agree that Earl's most admirable trait was his generous heart. He loved his family dearly. Many great times were had while enjoying a meal together. Earl had numerous friends, many going back to his childhood, with whom he shared many tales and much laughter. Dad was a lover of nature. Rarely did he miss his daily walk through the woodlands. Dad's spirituality also meant a great deal to him, beginning each day in quiet reflection and with gratitude. Special thanks goes out to so many wonderful caregivers at Leamington and Windsor Regional Hospital, as well as at Hospice. Donations can be made to 'In Honour Of The Ones We Love'. Family and friends are welcome to join in a 'Celebration of Life' to be held on Wednesday, June 28th from 4 to 6 pm at the Windsor Yacht Club
