Obituary of Roberta Ellen Smith
Smith Roberta Ellen Feb 28, 1954 – June 08, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ellen Smith announces her passing on June 08, 2023 at the age of 69. Beloved wife to Rick Smith, of 34 years. Loving Mother to Chris Baker, Vancouver, Cory Baker, Windsor. Always remembered by sisters Valerie Fleming (d.Robert 2021), Barbara Tracy (Greg Sway), and Sister-in-law Linda Tracy. Adored Grandmother to Ruby Tuesday and George Champagne, Ashton Baker. Cherished aunt to Rob Fleming ( Aggie ) , Bill Fleming ( Pauline), Mike Tracy, Jamie Tracy (Jodi). Always remembered by her extended Family, Kareem Abushar, and life-long friend Mary Beth Achilles (Lance). Predeceased by her Parents, Margaret 1997, and Robert Tracy (1984), Brother Edward Tracy 2020, Niece Vickie Fleming (1985). Ellen was a very lively and vibrant person who always enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved her work at Sears Windsor for over 30 years and made many friends with everyone there, especially Emily, Yvonne, Sara, Anne, Michelle and Randal, and so many more. Ellen had a passion for Backgammon and was a member of Mountain league Back Gammon for several years getting to meet several of the friends in Las Vegas. She was an avid Union activist and always stood up for the worker, She took a large part in bringing a Union into Sears Windsor. Ellen and Rick took part in several demonstrations with the CAW for workers rights from Nova Scotia to Vancouver in all types of weather. Ellen enjoyed supporting and joining Rick is several Masonic and Mocha Shrine Celebrations and Parades in Southern Ontario and Michigan, once again meeting many more friends. She loved to travel and enjoyed her time and more great friends in Treasure Island Florida. As per Ellen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held on June 21 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 594, at 5030 Howard Avenue. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE 519-254-2585.
