Obituary of Luigi Barzotto

Luigi Barzotto August 8 , 1923 to December 6 , 2019 Born in Fregona,(Vittorio Veneto )Provincia di Treviso Italy. Passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare on December 6, 2019 at the age of 96. Predeceased by his loving wife Vilma Azzalini (2017) and his cherished son Carlo (2017). Loving father of Gino (Antoinette) and Nonno of Daniela, Deanna, Lisa and Nadia and Nonnino to Abby, Sofia, Dashiell and Emma. Predeceased by his brother Gino, sisters Angelina, Augusta and survived by sisters Gemma Dal Puppo in Montreal and Rina Battaini in Italy as well as many nephews and nieces. Dad lived a long and storied life and was a WW2 veteran serving as a partigiano in the mountains in the liberation of Italy. After the war he worked hard in Italy and Belgium before immigrating to Canada in Montreal before sending for his family and later moving to Windsor. Dad was all about family and was always there for his children. He was a proud longstanding member of the Giovanni Caboto Club, the Veneto Club and the Alpini. He was a very independent person who enjoyed living out his life in the family home watching soccer on RAI and looking after his pet cat Coco. Special thanks to LHIN for providing Saint Elizabeth Health care especially to Anna his care giver whose visits he looked forward to. Also thanks to Lisa and nursing staff 6th floor WRH and Tracey and nursing staff at Dr. Y. Emara Centre for excellent and compassionate care. Per Luigi's request cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held later with entombment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
