Obituary of David Gillies

It is with great sadness and deepest grief the family of David announces his passing on September 8, 2019, at the age of 80, after a brief illness. Devoted and beloved husband to Karen, for 49 years. Much cherished father of Kevin, Gordon (Terri Lyn), Jason, and Teri. David was a very proud Grandfather to nine grandchildren (Jaclyn, Jamie, Alyssa, Leah, Jennifer, Sarah, Jeffrey, Dani, and Emma), four great-grandchildren (Lennon, Eva, Lochlan, and Aryiah), and two more on the way. David was the youngest of six siblings: Bernard, Lorraine, Kathleen (Fred), Barbara (Leo), and Gail. He treasured his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He will forever be loved, missed, and fondly remembered by all. David is predeceased by his parents, James Bernard Gillies and Veronica Eleanor Laurin. David was an Executive Vice President for Auto Haulaway, and enjoyed 25 years of retirement. He was passionate about flying, as a private pilot. He was a member of the Windsor Flying Club for a period of time. His other hobbies included boating, reading, and photography. The family would like to extend their heart felt appreciation for the support, thoughts, and love, from friends and neighbours. A very special thanks to the staff of Windsor Regional Hospital-Metropolitan Campus for their expertise with treatment and kindness while David was in their care. If so desired, donations to the Met-Campus would be appreciated. David's final wishes were to be cremated, with no service. "Remember me as I was." Cremation has taken place.
