Obituary of Peter Jago

Predeceased by his parents, Joan and Paul. Peter will be sadly missed by his daughter, Kathryn. He is survived by his dear friend, Megan Collins. Loving brother to Jim, of Sudbury. Peter worked much of his life in the Windsor arts community. His proudest achievement was assisting in the Capitol Theatre restoration. A celebration of Peter's life will be held for family and friends this Monday, September 9 in the Joy Theatre at The Capitol Theatre and Arts Centre, 121 University Ave. W., Windsor, ON from 6pm -10 pm. Join us in celebrating life. Peter has influenced so many people and industries over his career. His talents have set standards, and enforced standards, nationwide. Peter has contributed greatly to the cultural fabric of Windsor, through publication, media, music, technical artistic talent and hard work! Windsor is very lucky to celebrate the life of Peter Jago who has consistently influenced the continuous development of Arts in Windsor. This is a memorable moment for all of us whom he unknowingly influenced. His greatest achievement was the Capitol Theatre renovation, where he served as Project Manager and Technical Director for many years. He was also a Past Board member of Arts Council-Windsor and Region, Windsor Press Club, Artcite and longstanding member of IATSE 280, among numerous other organisations and various projects. Peter has spent his life seeing through the lens of artistic creation. He recognized movement and light beautifully and applied the knowledge to his technical direction. His gentle approach has influenced another generation of artists, and left a historical blueprint. He loved blueprints, and could often be found carrying rolls of them under his arm. Peter was very much an intellectual, who loved history and architecture. His vast knowledge and curiosity led him to a great understanding of many aspects in industry, and culture. His grandfather, whom he loved and respected deeply, was a gifted carpenter, and Peter was very much inspired by him. Peter's greatest love is his daughter, and his artistic ability lives on through her. Peter exhibited a love of culture and theatre early in life and embraced movement, music, projection and film. Lighting and design are particular favourites. He loved travel, nature and social differences, as a way of understanding the world. A gentle and compassionate, caring soul we have lost and will always be remembered by his beloved family and friends. Arrangements entrusted to SIMPLE CHOICE CREMATION CENTRE (519-254-2585).
