Obituary of Murray Kenton Simon
We are saddened to announce the death of Murray Kenton Simon on July 10, 2019, in his 90th year, at The Hospice of Windsor. Murray was a lifelong resident of the former Gosfield North Township, in fact living on the same farm where he was born, until just a few months ago. Devoted husband of Inez Virginia (nee Congdon) who passed away in 2013, having enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Dear Dad of Judith “Judy” Gayle and husband, John Bobaljik of Windsor; Brenda Lee Dixon, and Brad R. and wife Nora, all of Kingsville. Dear father-in-law of the late Diane Simon. Dear Grandpa of Jason Dixon and Chantelle Prieur, Kristy Damm and husband Josh, Shaun Dixon, Adam Simon and late wife Ange Robineau and the late Cale Simon. Dear Great Grandpa of Hailey and Angelica Dixon; Sydney, Kelsey, Jeremy and Aubrey Damm, with one more ‘Damm Kid’ expected very soon; and Bradley ‘Little Man’ Simon. Murray was the loving son of Adam Guernsey Simon and Inez Emery, nee Scott. Dear brother of the late Willard and wife Gladys, and the late Cleva Tetzlaff and husband Wilbur. Dear brother-in-law of Phyllis Coneybeare and her late husband Verne of Fergus; Clare Congdon and wife Betty, and Roger Congdon and wife Gloria all of Cottam. While farm life was in his blood, he made the brave decision to go back to school in his late 30’s, to make a better life for his family. As a licensed electrician, he worked for Parr Brothers Electric, and later at the Metropolitan Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital until retirement. A family church service will take place. Donations in Murray’s memory may be made to Church of the Living Word in Woodslee or to Hospice of Windsor and Essex County. We extend our heartfelt thanks to so many caregivers; Dr. Peter Kelton, Home Instead, St. Elizabeth, Bayshore, Southgate Residence in Kingsville, Care Partners, V.O.N., and Hospice of Windsor and Essex County. The support of his neighbours, and of Pastor Rodger Jackson and his family at Church of the Living Word in Woodslee was greatly appreciated.
