Dave and I had many hours of fun playing bridge together. We never argued. I was very sad to read that he had passed. He adored his wife, Mary, and daughter as well. My hubby passed eight years ago. Maybe they are playing bridge together in heaven.

To Sarah and all the Filipchuk family, I actually just heard about Davids passing recently. I am so sorry for this terrible loss. The Filipchuks were close friends to my parents, Ted and Dorothy Bilous. Sending hugs to everyone and hope everyone is doing well. Here is my email if anyone is still in the Brantford area. darlene_k@yahoo.com. Would be so nice to see you. God bless.

Sarah I remember being on vacation with your parents at a cottage. Your dad and I decided to go fishing in the early morning. We got into the canoe with our poles, your father in the stern and me in the bow. As we paddled I asked your dad how far and he said to the next point. So I paddled my heart out. We finally reached the point and as I glanced behind me there was your dad laughing with his paddle on his lap and a cigarette in his hand He was laughing because he had ceased paddling way back and was just enjoying the scenery. I was at first ready to soak him but his laugh was so contagious that I couldn’t help myself and busted out laughing. Needless to say we caught no fish. I did keep my eye on your dad and insisted he paddle us home. Your dad was always kind to me and made me laugh. I am sorry for your loss and will always remember your dad fondly. He will continue to live on in your heart. Sincerely Helene Cohen

Hard to pinpoint only one memory of Dave (Flip) since I had known him since I was 12. Glad we had the opportunity to hook up again a couple of years back and and catch up on old times. Our heartfelt thoughts are with Mary and Sarah, Mr. & Mrs. Filipchuck, Janet and Susan. John Carmichael

Hi Sarah and Mary, Just read the beautiful tribute post about your Dad and your husband. So filled with appreciation for his beautiful life and courageous exuberance for life. Sarah, please tell me more stories about your Dad. I have heard some humorous ones but I hope to hear more about D.F.’s life adventures. May his legacy live long in the hearts of his loved ones. Love to you, and to Ben too, Marlene B.

We have some great memories of our favourite uncle! He could cheat at cards like it was nobody’s business and always made us laugh. He will be missed! Long live The Dong! XO Rachelle

Dave and I go way back. My fondest thought about him was his making me feel welcome and friending me upon our family's arrival in Brantford. High energy guy who knew adventure. And many of those we had, indeed. My sincerest thoughts go out to my sister Mary and niece Sarah. To his parents and siblings, Janet and Susan, know he loved you all. Farewell friend, farewell.. Dan.
