Dear Aunt Avis Anne, I was sad to hear of uncle Dave's passing. He was always fun to be around and I always learned something new about cars with him. It was neat to see his shop too with many machines I had never seen before. I loved how his/your whole family enjoyed the same passion for cars and designing things that would work better, be stronger,or lighter etc. It was a pleasure to have spent time with him as a young boy because he was one of those role models who helped establish a mind set that anything is possible if you put the effort into building it! Take care, Love Rob, Lori, Angus, Hillary, and Liam Crossan

I enjoyed working with and for Dave for my many years at GM Windsor. He had a wealth of wisdom and positive advice to share about work and life. He was a great inspiration in that there is life outside of GM and now he's busy designing sailboats "upstairs"! We wish our deepest condolences to his family. Gary (& Cathy) Williams

They hosted many Ford Trade School guys and Dave was always there with a story and one of his many loves. . .his cars. Lots of happy memories in the early fifties. Dave & I were in the same group at Ford Trade school , starting in August 1948 . He left us with the most interesting stories, such as the single days with 15 guys , mostly from all over Canada . I lived in Kingsville & thankfully , did not take part in most of those . Then stories followed , like the need of a garage / shop . A normal square building would not do , had to be a geodesic dome . The day he showed up in our yard in Kingsville to prep the Model T he had just bought , for the drive to Windsor . Watching him racing at Waterford Hills Mi in the early fifties , on & on . The event that impressed me most was the first ; our first week at FTS was one of those hot humid spells in Windsor . We had to wear monogoggles which fogged up . Dave solved this ; this was shortly after WW 2 & there were many " war surplus " stores on Michigan Ave in Detroit & he found the solution there . Next day , he showed up with a miniature squirrel cage fan & battery , mounted on top of his goggles , problem solved . We were in awe of this guy from Brantford , as many people have been by his technical genius and still a gentleman , over the next 70 years . Ernie Regehr

It is difficult to put into words, half a lifetime of my memories of Dave Arthur Elcomb. We met when I became his roommate at Stewardson’s on Gladstone Ave in Windsor in 1951 or 2. He became my brother-in-law when he married my sister Avis-Anne. Dave was always 10 steps further up the ladder and always available with a solution on any practical problem. The items he designed and built, problemsolvlng calculations and approaches to solve difficulties were exceptionally creative. His easy going manner and enthusiasm for the day, was great to be a part of. Ilene and I extend our most heartfelt feelings to Avis-Anne, Kedre (Blake), Doug, and Jennifer (Gary). He will be greatly missed. It was a privilege to have been part of his life's journey. Robert Crossan

Though it has been years since our paths have crossed reading of Dave’s passing brought a flood of childhood memories. Dave wore a path out from the house to “ the garage” as he he worked on his labours of love. To you, Scooter, Kedre, Douglas and Jennifer my sincere condolences for your immense loss. Dan Cecile
