Obituary of Shirley Jean Hewitt (nee Ledgley)

Her journey is now complete. After almost 87 wonderful years, Shirley passed away on March 11, 2019, after a brief illness, which she fought to the very end. Loving wife of the late Victor; mother of Mark (Jackie) and Jeff (Debbie); and grandmother to Kyle (Mary), Ryan (Julie), Marlee and Reed. Sunday dinner companion with Mary Lou. Shirley’s nurturing and caring nature served her well as a Grace Hospital Nurse (Class of ’54), a calling of which she was truly proud. She was twice a cancer survivor. While Shirley was predeceased by many family members and close friends, she leaves behind many who will remember and cherish her love and friendship. Shirley enjoyed her recent years at the St. Clair Beach Retirement Home where she at long last got to live on the water; many thanks to the staff for their care. Shirley’s family also wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses at Windsor Regional Hospital (Metropolitan Campus) for the care and compassion shown in her final days.
