Obituary of Phyllis Marie Benson

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Phyllis Benson at the age of 80 on October 31, 2018, peacefully at home, with her loving family. She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Ernest Benson (2016). Mom was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to the late Cyril William and Olive Meakin. She worked at the Windsor Regional Hospital, retiring in 1995 to enjoy many happy years in Northern Ontario with her husband. Mom’s greatest love was her family, which is reflected in the wonderful legacy she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed by her sister Marjorie Lewczak of Halifax, Nova Scotia, her children Carmen (John), Corinne Storey, Stephen (Wendy), Joe (Monica), grandchildren David, Carey, Jessica, Daniel, Jacob, Zachary, Erika, Sara, Dustin and great-children Nathan, Madison, Danielle, Ryan and Owen. A celebration of her life will be held in a private family ceremony. Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to staff of the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County, St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Erie St. Clair LHIN and Bayshore Home Care for the wonderful care given to our Mother.
