As a Brownie and Girl Guide I fondly remember your amazing mom, in fact it was your mom's love of libraries that ultimately took me to library school and a career as a public librarian. Jan, I hope that wonderful memories will soon replace your sadness. Sincerely Kitty Pope

I did not have the honour of knowing Elizabeth, but I know her wonderful daughters Jan and Lisa. Not only was Elizabeth a great mom who raised them right; she also worked hard all her life, carving our her unique place in Windsor's history. From what I have seen and read, she was beautiful (on the inside too, where it really counts). She was funny. She was smart. She cared. She blazed trails. And most important of all, she made a difference. Godspeed and rest in peace, Elizabeth.

I first met Aunt Elizabeth when I came to Canada in 1962, She was always kind, with time to listen, talk and laugh. When I met her again (with me as an adult ) the compassion, empathy and respect shone from her. She always had time for people and I consider I am lucky to have known her

I was very small when I met my Great-Auntie Betty, my Grandad’s beautiful sister, and I don’t remember it. I do, however, remember all the wonderful stories I heard from my family when I was growing up, and the photo of her with the Queen that was in the paper, and it seemed every family member had a copy. Rest in peace, dear Auntie. Give Grandad a hug from me. Much love xx

I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Mum. I certainly have you and your family in my thoughts and send you all sincerest condolences and love. As a kid, she was a familiar Riverside neighbourhood face, the face of the busy Mum of my friends. Then as I grew up, a person I would see on TV or in the newspaper, or hear on the radio, and I would think, “I know her...” in that way that people gravitate toward people who are recognized as being special. She was important and had an aura of confidence, someone you always felt knew what she was doing. I followed her achievements and it was no surprise at all to me when Elizabeth Kishkon was elected Mayor of the City of Windsor. While in office, as always, she did your name proud. I couldn’t help but notice in the photo that shows her with the Queen and Prince Philip that they were both looking at her with an appropriate sense of friendship and admiration. May she rest in eternal peace.

I have always felt a closeness and a deep respect to your Mum. She was a brave and strong woman in a man's world, and also she played such an important role in bringing and hosting Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to Windsor. I have never mentioned this before, but when your Mum was walking with Queen Elizabeth down the steps..right immediately after the two official flower children presenters... my daughter Amanda, who was 3 years old at the time, is the little girl in the mauvey coloured coat presenting unofficial flowers to the the Queen... right at about 5:56 into the clip. She remembers dropping the flowers while presenting them and saying "oopsey", and that the Queen laughed. I had taped this news clip years ago from the tv onto a vcr tape but an ex boyfriend taped over it. Needless to say I was furious..but now I have it again! This is awesome to have again as I have just sent the video to her, much to her total amazement. Thank you so very much! My deepest condolences to your family on the loss of your beautiful mother xx

This weekend was different from all the weekends of the last few years. It felt like something...someone...was missing. I had a familiar reminder in the back of my mind to visit grandma on Sunday, but she was gone. Following the health complications several years back, we did not know that she would make it through. She surprised everyone with as close to a full recovery as anyone could ever hope for in their 80s. Although these most recent years have been far from her best, I can't help but feel selfishly grateful that I got a little more time with her. I am so happy to have been close with her, and to have grown to an adult with her still around so I could properly appreciate just how great she was, and how great her memory will always be. Knowing the positive impact she had on our community and knowing that so many looked up to her is just the icing on the cake. She was my grandma, first and foremost to me, but she was great for everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her, too. She was my favourite person. I miss her. Thinking of you always, grandma. I love you.

I remember when Elizabeth became Mayor and although I never knew her personally or the family, I remember being a young mother myself at that time and thought how great to see a woman hold this office. She was definitely a trailblazer and set an example that we can do whatever we want. In a way I can't explain she had a huge impact on me. Elizabeth was a wonderful mother who helped shape the direction for many woman in the Windsor community. I always held high respect for her. My deepest sympathies for your loss.. Connie Baby-Atkinson
