Obituary of Agatina Micalizzi Caruana

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Nonna, Bisnonna, and Nanna on August 28, 2018. To know Tina, was to know what love was all about. She met Charlie during the Second World War. They married and moved to Malta, not knowing anyone or the language. She learned to speak Maltese fluently and was loved by many. She then crossed the Atlantic on her own with their two children, Frank and Phil, to start a new life and eventually meet up with her husband in Canada, in 1954. True dedication, love and bravery. Predeceased by her loving husband Charles “Carmelo” Caruana (April 30, 2012). Loving Mother to Frank (Pam), Phil (Mary), Mary (Danny) and Chuck (Sophia). Cherished Nanna to Chris (Joanne), Michelle (John-Paul), David (Cori) and their father Larry, Paul (Dena), Michael (Dayna), Sarah (Andrew), Scott, Steven, Nicole and Laura. Great-Nanna to Alex, Addisyn, Madison, Alexa, Malaina, Alivia, Sophia, Victoria, Devin, Angelina, Emily and Stella. Predeceased by her parents, Domenica and Filippo, brothers Virginio, Mimo, Carmelo and sister Franca. Waiting in heaven is Rainay Caruana. Tina was born in Catania, Sicily. She had many hobbies and talents, and she was a talented seamstress who worked at Sears Custom Draperies. She loved to crochet and knit and made many beautiful blankets which we will treasure forever. She loved to garden and loved all kinds of flowers. Her main passion was cooking. Her joy was to be surrounded by family over the holidays and every Sunday for dinners. Charlie would even bring over strangers he had just met and she welcomed everyone with open arms. "Come sit, mangia!" Her smile would light up a room! She especially loved music and was so happy when Alex and Addi would play the piano for her. She leaves behind her two dear sisters, Maria in Catania, Sicily and Irene in Malta, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Fondest memories of our parents include their love to dance together. They would clear the dance floor on many New Year's Eve parties at the Maltese Club. Mom & Dad, we know that you both are dancing the waltz together up in Heaven. Sincere thanks to the staff of Heron Terrace for their constant care and always making sure that "Nonna" was comfortable. Cremation has taken place. Simple Choice Cremation Centre (519-254-2585) A private viewing for family has taken place. A Memorial Mass in celebration of her 95 years of life will take place at a later date to honour Tina. The family sends special thanks for the calls, condolences, cards and messages.
