Obituary of Phyllis Thomas
Passed away in Kingsville, Ontario on August 21, 2018 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Richard O. Thomas (1983). Dear Mother of Shawn and husband Dennis Dyck of Kingsville, Rick and wife Pamela of Cambridge, Judy and husband Doug Book (of South Bruce Peninsula), and daughter Marsha. Grandmother of Gord, Mandy, Marisa, Marcus, Jacob, Zachary, Amber and Jordon and great-grandmother of 10. Also survived by brothers Bernard Orth and wife Joan (2011) of Mississauga, Les Orth and wife Ann (2017) of Waterloo, and Earl and Connie Orth of Waterloo. Pre-deceased by sister Lauri Osborne of Oregon. Phyllis was born in Hamilton, Ontario to Norman and Hazel (McKnight) Orth. Her school days were in Kitchener and her married life in London. After the death of her husband, she retired and moved to Grand Bend where she enjoyed volunteer work with the Huron Country Playhouse and with the area parks and museums. She was able to travel quite extensively, visiting many Caribbean islands, most of the U.S. including Alaska, and Canada"s provinces. There were overseas trips as well to Britain, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Morocco. Mom loved walking on the beach and even had a favourite rock where she sat and watched the sunset. She made sure she pet every dog that passed and always had biscuits in her pockets for them. She even carried peanuts for passing squirrels. As per Mom"s wishes, cremation has already taken place. Come celebrate with us as we remember the happy times, raise a glass with cheer, and share our best memories and moments on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Clubhouse at Old Orchard Park, 10 Lake Road, Grand Bend, ON. A heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Royal Oak Long Term Care in Kingsville. They are amazingly caring people and made Mom feel special. For those who wish, donations may be made to CNIB, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice. And so we say "goodnight Mom". In remembrance, take time to spend with family, walk on the beach, enjoy the outdoors, and pet every puppy that passes by. Do it and think of Phyll. Share memories at simplechoicecremation.ca.
