Obituary of Roberta Katherine Wood (nee Babington)

Roberta Wood (nee Babington), of Windsor, passed on Friday, August 3rd, 2018 at her home after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Windsor, Ontario to Isabelle Babington (nee Compton) and Bob Babington. She is survived by one son, her proudest accomplishment, Mackenzie Wood of Toronto; two sisters, Jo-Anne Branton (Bob Johnson) and Bonita Babington; nephews, RJ (Patty) Fisher of Ohio, and Welsley (Sarah) Babington of Toronto; and lifelong friend David Wood. Roberta"s parents and one brother, Carlysle Babington, preceded her in death. Roberta had a passion for teaching, mentoring and helping others. An instructor at St. Clair College for 18 years, Roberta also worked at the Academy of Learning, W5 and the March of Dimes. Highly qualified, compassionate and determined, Roberta excelled at helping people, especially those who had the misfortune to suffer workplace injuries, disabilities, or were dealing with being downsized, helping them learn new skills and re-enter the workforce. Roberta loved her family, her friends, animals, travelling, music (Piaf, Aznavour and Springsteen), gardening and was a culinary wizard. Graceful and soft-spoken, she was also fiercely determined in everything she did, all traits that she displayed to the very end. She was an inspiration to us all and will be greatly missed. In keeping with Roberta"s wishes, the family will have a private memorial.
