Obituary of Wilfred Charles Richard

Passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the age of 85 at his residence in Wheatley overlooking peaceful Lake Erie. Survived by his wife, Debra Richard (nee Neill), children, Dr. Thomas Richard (Diane), Robert Richard (Neesha) and Andrea Simone (Frank). Step-father of Matthew Nightingale (Lacey). Survived by his brother, Vince Richard (Gerry) and predeceased by siblings Marguerite, Rosemary, Virginia, and Murray. He was blessed with eight grandchildren; Rebecca (Jason), David (Stephanie), Nicholas, Natalie, Sophia, Eric, Colin and Kirsten and three adorable step-grandchildren; Lilly, Grace and Ella. He will be sincerely missed by his former wife, friend and mother of his children, Patricia (nee Burton) and husband Tom Cairns. Left behind are several nieces and nephews whom he adored and cherished. He was retired as a supervisor from Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI after 34 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed wintering in Port Charlotte, FL. Willy loved people and had a unique gift of gab and sense of humour always bringing people to tears with laughter. His heart was overflowing with love, kindness and pride in his family. He will remain in our hearts forever. Special thank you to the palliative care team including his nurse practitioner, Filomena and registered nurses from Paramed, Cathy and Bjeet. Lastly, Nancy, Dad"s daily PSW provided him with compassion, dignity and an unmatched closeness that was irreplaceable. Cremation has taken place. Memorial mass will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church (1947 Meldrum Rd., Windsor, ON) at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life, sharing of Willy"s stories, jokes and Luncheon at 11:00 to 14:30 at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 594 (5030 Howard Ave., Windsor, ON). If so desired, donations to the Humane Society of Winsdor-Essex County and Windsor"s Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated.
