Obituary of Bertha Elizabeth Hinshaw (nee Haynes/Mitchell)

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the peaceful passing of Bertha into eternal life on April 23, 2018 at Heron Terrace Long Term Care Home Windsor ON following a weekend surrounded by family. Born September 6, 1924 to the late Frank & Margaret Mitchell of Huron Township ON; she was the final surviving sibling to seven brothers and five sisters. Predeceased by her beloved husbands; Ernest Haynes (1967) and Leonard Hinshaw (1976). Loving Mother to four children; Sheila (1994) (Chuck) Petteplace, Marlene (Bill) Pace, Ernie (Joni) Haynes and Glenda (Doug) McTaggart. Cherished Nana to nine grandchildren; Dave (Keri) Petteplace, Mike (Katie) Petteplace, Sheila (John) Dupuis, Bill Pace, Julie Haynes, Meghan (Craig) Haynes, Aaron (Sarah) Haynes, Matthew McTaggart, Michelle McTaggart and eight great-grandchildren; Jackson & Dalton Petteplace, Chloe & Ava Petteplace, Dylan & Tanner Dupuis, Lilly Pace, Brooklyn Haynes. Bertha was a dedicated member of the Liberty Rebekah Lodge branch #175 Kincardine ON and the Thistle Rebekah Lodge branch #194 Harrow ON; receiving her 60th year jewel on September 6, 2009. She was a devoted member of Kincardine United Church, Harrow United Church and Riverside United Church, Windsor ON. Comfort and strength were found in John 14, The Lord's Prayer, The 23rd Psalm along with; Beyond the Sunset, Breathe on Me Breath of God, Just a Closer Walk With Thee, O Master Let Me Walk With Thee, What a Friend We Have in Jesus and Fight the Good Fight. We will remember your steadfast faith, strong will, hard work and utmost devotion to your family; all with a smile and a heart of gold. Cremation has taken place with interment in the Kincardine Cemetery to follow at a later date. Memorial donation may be made to the charity of your choice.
