Obituary of Joseph Horoky

Passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on February 10, 2018 at the age of 91. Predeceased by his beloved wife Marjorie (2007). Loving father of Greg (LaVena), Joseph (Cheryl), Marsha and Kevin (Denise). Cherished Grandpa of 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Joe was retired from Chrysler after 41 years of work. In his time, Joe was one of the most dominant basketball, football and track athletes in Windsor. He was the first athlete to be named "All City" for basketball and football in the same year. According to Fr. Charles Armstrong "We had to devise a special defense in the 1945 city championship basketball game to deal with Joe" As a result of that, neither team was able to score 20 points in the game. Also, according to Judge Saul Nosanchuk, "Joe was a hero and an inspiration to everyone in the neighborhood. He was a role model for athletes and self-discipline".
