Obituary of Elizabeth Marie Leishman

Born September 18, 1924 in Raleigh Township, Ontario. Died very peacefully December 23, 2017 in Windsor, Ontario. Adored wife of the late Gordon McGregor Leishman (1978). Loving mother to her twin daughters, Chris Gauthier (Charles), Sandie Lambden (Danny) and sons, Scott (1968) and Bill (Sandra Renaud). The Most Wonderful Nana to Danielle, Gregory (2012), James, Michael, John, Sarah-Jane (Sean) and Alexandra. Great Nana to Tyler, Dylan and Riley. Fun loving Aunt Marie to many nephews and nieces. Marie was raised by her parents Lou and May Bennett on the family farm along with her older sister, Inez Bennett and younger sister Julia Scafe (Warren). She never lost her love of the countryside and horses and would share many stories of the days on the farm. Mom achieved her Gold Life Master in Contract Bridge and was a long-time member of the London Bridge Club. She enjoyed reading, traveling, baseball, and making many friends and having lots of adventures along the way. As a mother, she taught us to appreciate nature, love God and to laugh. As a Nana, she was always up for a game of cards, a story or to just to sit and listen. Mom took all that life threw at her and with courage and grace got through it. Cremation has taken place. On Saturday, January 6, 2018, family and friends are invited to gather for Visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Mark's by the Lake Anglican Church, 150 St. Marks Rd, Tecumseh, Ontario, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 p.m. A private burial will take place at a later date.
