Obituary of Philip F. Gardner

GARDNER, Philip F. July 4, 1943 - December 11, 2017 A beloved man is gone, and we mourn for our loss. Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Phil started his career as a young man in the shoe business. He worked hard to move up within the company, travelling across Canada eventually becoming Executive Vice President of Store Operations. During his 40's, he decided to take up running completing 28 marathons: including Boston, New York and one of his favourite running accomplishments, the 100th Anniversary of the original Athens route in Greece. Phil lived his retirement to the fullest, enjoying his home in Florida during the winter months, playing on golf leagues in both Canada and the U.S., all the while honing his self-taught knowledge of the Stock Market. Married to Marilyn for 52 years. Father of Jodie Wickenheiser (James) and Joel Gardner. Cherished Papa of Hannah, Elliott, Libby, Tess and Bridgette. Brother of the late Robert (Mary), the late Babe (Gerry), Pico (Connie), Mary Frenette (late Ernie), Jacqueline Whitson (Harold) and Deborah Costa (Walter). Brother-in-law of Barbara and Gerry Stewart. Uncle of many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bill and Diane Paterson for their unwavering friendship and support. "Remember Bill - sometimes in life you need to find just the right shade of champagne beige." At Phil's request, cremation has taken place.
