Obituary of Maurice Gerald LaMarre

Passed away on August 11, 2017 at the age of 79 surrounded by loving family and friends. Husband to adored wife Catherine (nee Troup) sharing 58 wonderful years together. Predeceased by parents Roger and Maria (nee Marshall) LaMarre. Survived by children; Allan LaMarre (Janice), Todd LaMarre (Tracy) and Jacqui LaMarre. Loving Grandpa of Eric LaMarre (Kristen), Kyle LaMarre (Nicole) of Australia, Georgia and Claire LaMarre, Caitlin " and Brian Cox, Jessica McDonald, Corinne and Mike Bagley. Great grandpa to Koen and Hadley LaMarre of Australia and Nathan Bagley. Brother of Dennis LaMarre (Susan) of Guelph and Leonard LaMarre (Patricia) of Tecumseh. Moe lived a life rich with many close family and friends. Persuaded by his high school teacher, Major Stuart Bull, to enter Teachers College, he began his career teaching grade school in Amherstburg; his most enjoyable years in the classroom. He completed his Masters and taught at several Windsor Secondary Schools completing his career as Principal at his alma matter, Walkerville Collegiate. He was active in the Windsor Community serving on a number of boards including: Hospice, VON, United Way, Diversion and was Vice President of the Ontario Headmasters Association. Moe loved to read, play golf and squash, curl, sail, garden, bowl and write short stories for his grandchildren. He and Cathy often camped with family and friends in Parry Sound and later on in life, Wheatley Provincial Park. A Special thanks to his health care "team" and Bill C-14 that allowed him to remain at home and die with dignity. Their dedication and friendship constantly raised his spirits. "Love is life's most enduring quality". Much gratitude to all of his "old" friends and family who visited and contacted him making his last year a trip down memory lane, full of love and laughter. At Moe's request, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Moe's life on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Windsor Yacht Club, 9000 Riverside Dr. E., Windsor, from 1 " 4 p.m. If so desired, donations may be made to the Hospice of Windsor-Essex County or the Heart and Stroke Foundation (Windsor Office).
